I've got 1,2,3,4 and now 5 Graflex cameras. 2 SLRs and 2 Speeds and Crown. And these are easy to fix. A flat-head screwdriver is all you need.

The wonderful things about the old Graflex focal plane shutters: the parts are big enough to see what you're doing, the speed regulation of the shutter works like the governor in a music box and the speed itself is a matter of how tight you wind the mainspring (and it's adjustable at the opposite end from the tension ratchet because it's a torsion wire), and the mechanism itself is pretty simple. Usually, if the curtain isn't damaged, all it'll need is a little cleaning and appropriate lubrication of the mechanics. FAR simpler to fix than a 35 mm focal plane shutter...

I love fixing old cameras just as much as shooting them. Well done!

Scuff magic shoe polish works magic for the black areas worn down to the brown underneath. I use Tungsten Disulfide powder (1/2 micron particle size) for lubrication. It's so small it won't even show up as dust spots and it lubricates really well. If it doesn't work the first time, you go back Jack... Do it again.

Oh, i didn't know graflex' could do that. I got mine in very used wear but it works as it should. I dont think this is on the speed graphic though, is it?

Hey Ari, do you think you could do a video of the complete process so I can get my old Speed Graphic up and running again???
