My favorite is when i have customers buy all the fence they "think" they need then expect me to install it from the big box stores, menards, lowes, home depot expecting me to do the job.

As soon as the guy said how much it "costed" him you are probably assume his math skills are not real strong.

Nice thing with a fence company you can buy only what you need. With big boxes stores they make you buy full rolls.

Haha I want to see the receipt and materials list from where he got it. When I sell a job I give them the option of lowes and what I can get the materials for from them along with my price I get it from a supplier or even a bigger fence company. And the price is within the same ball park but then I explain that lowes materials suck and my labor is the same regardless.

Had to be 065, std 16ga toprail, fittings are the killer, 9ga is a waste with those post and toprail, I started with US steel, a roll of 6' wire, hot dip 9 was about 200 pounds, 50 ft, fencing was a rough job.

In California, for our supplier, you need to have a contractors license to purchase from our supplier.

I own a small fence company and I buy all my stuff from the local big company. A corporate that has offices all over state. I found the prices to be comparable.and the slight difference is fine when they have everything on hand. I would have to shop at several places so I save in fuel. So convience wins there but my point being fence company may not be back depending on what company. You don't want to go through me and see another markup

The thing about chain link fence, especially if your install and material is top notch, hardly any maintenance. Privacy fences are one pita to keep looking good. High maintenance. First few years they look good, then it's ugly city. LOL
