This is masterful incompetence from the Jets.

Jets: "Reddick gave us a pinky promise"

Simms nailed it at the end. Why such great numbers/stats, cheap contract, yet so many different teams? Also, Reddick asked for a trade from two different teams only 4 months apart. Who wants to take a risk on trading the Jets for the 30 year old DE now? I do think the Jets likely hold some of the "blame" here, but Reddick is really hurting himself much more than hurting the Jets

Don't trade for a guy who is being traded for contract demands you aren't willing to meet. Logic 101.

To add to the list: AJ Brown to the Eagles within 20 mins of the trade happening the 4 year $100 mill contract was announced

Aaron needs to make a decision on this.

Joe Douglas has ALL the leverage. Reddick’s the one racking up fines, & he’s not 25 or 26 anymore, Father Time is undefeated. The Front Office is winning this battle, plain & simple.
The truth? The Jets want Reddick, but Reddick needs the Jets. He can’t play for any other team until he fulfills the contract HE signed & the Jets traded for. Joe Douglas is playing chess while Reddick’s team is stuck playing checkers.
That’s the reality. F*** who’s right or wrong—Douglas knows it, the Front Office knows it, & deep down, Reddick knows it too. The Jets control the board.

The Jets aren't fucking anything up. They're taking a stand as they should. They aren't the team that absolutely needs him. They're a top 5 defense without him anyways. Reddick has no leverage with the Jets specifically.

Jet should had made this a sign and trade. Why trade for a guy who wants a new contract and the team isn’t willing to meet his contract demands. The Jets, are the same Jets.

Not a Jets fan, and I forgot that they hadn't signed him to a new deal with the trade. Just baffling. This is absolutely embarrassing for a professional organization.

AJ Brown!! Titans to Eagles new deal done with trade announcement - Roseman is the Master.

Did the Jets think the bright lights of NYC were going to make him forget about the reason he left in the first place?

If Hassan was going to play out the contract. He would have stayed with eagles. He’s not playing out the contract with the jets. The jets knew this. They f’d up. It’s on them. They have to pay up now

😂 I love people saying Jets this and Jets that. Based on the current CBA, holding out is the wrong move. Him requesting a trade is his last ditch effort to gain leverage. However, he’s already lost millions he will never see again. He’s turning 30 during the season. And if he holds out the whole year he further screws himself. Also, if the Jets suck and everyone gets fired he will have missed a season for nothing and they still hold his rights… this was not a good move. Dude cost himself millions due to bad advice.

They traded a 2026 3rd-round pick before the draft, which would have been equivalent to a 2024 5th-round pick.

Reddick doesn't have $1 in guaranteed money. Expecting a player of his caliber and seniority to play with that level of risk is insane.

Only the Jets could F this up so badly. We’ve come to expect it from them so I’d like to thank them for their consistency. It’s very entertaining.

I will say this-paying significant long term money before a player comes to your team comes with a lot of risk too. It's one thing to risk the assets but being stuck in a contract for a player who doesn't fit your team culture is more harmful . IE-Seattle and the Percy Harvin deal. But if you don't agree to the contract upon the trade then I think the team needs to understand it does come at the cost of leverage and be willing to pay. The Jets made the trade without understanding the exchange in leverage which is stupid

Power to the player! People that back the owners are the same people that support Corporations in Government.
