Lived in Surrey about 10 years ago between Guildford and Scott Road. Got swarmed by gangs twice cause I was driving a Ford Explorer. The high schools are gang recruitment centres. And crap will go down in broad daylight. Also, my sis was RCMP working Whalley and so many stories. I really hope things have improved in the last 10 years, and I know there are some areas that are rough gems.. but I'm only looking at the safety factors for my wife/kids.

Having lived in both Van and Surrey.. honestly, the scariest things are found on Abbott St. between 1:30 - 3:00 am.

South Surrey ocean park area is real nice but the rest of the city is depressing

I reside in Surrey Central where there are many, many new high-rises popping up all around me! I answered a survey over ten years ago and commented that our area needs our own movie theater. That has yet to happen. There was also plans to develop the North Surrey Recreation Centre into an amazing amphitheater/playhouse etc. but that never happened. We did get a fancy library, City Hall, SFU, Civic Hotel but zero entertainment venues.

Nah, I'll skip to Abbotsford. Not into all that traffic in Langley and Surrey. Abby got everything, I'm good.

New Westminster always gets unnoticed. It’s definitely underrated with charm.

certainly there are some dilapidated, dumpy areas of Surrey- same with Vancouver.
lived on Scott rd at 77th ave from 1971- 85, my dad bought a 5 acre parcel in 69 on the Surrey side at that location for 29k. I think it was 200' by 1200' in dimension if memory serves me right. There's a road running diagonally thru it about two third of the way through it running north to south. The acreage at one point was a driving range in the 40's and 50's, There was a little farmhouse that was built in the 40's on site that he refurbished and moved us in. We found newspapers in the attic from the 50'--- wild. The frontage is still undeveloped . He sold in 85 because the taxes were starting to be outlandish, and bought 5 house in abbotsford cash, then rented them out. He passed 3 months ago in his mid 90's, he was a good ol boy. Try doing that all nowadays. that parcel must be 30 million now. got out just in time.ugh for reasons I simply can't say.
was great in the 70's, for the most part. - thats all changed. the north shore is home now.
I know... I'm older than you all, but.. you'll get here sooner or later also- lol enjoy

I live in south surrey, Clayton area. Love it here, so close to willowbrook mall and the busses are great here along fraser highway. Lived in Newton before, thats a more questionable area.

What are you talking about no nightlife - shootings every day

Guildford used to have awesome nightlife. But they killed it after 2008. I saw lady gaga at the mirage nightclub before she was big.
