There's good news for people frustrated by their car's wimpy exhaust sound who dream about having sound like a Ferrari. From the Frankfurt Motor Show WSJ's Dipti Kapadia speaks to Faurecia, a French manufacturer of exhaust system on how this technology works.

Actually, they also use the speaker for active noise cancellation witch is a good idea. Eberspächer also use the antisound principle to make the exhaust more silent. To make silent cars more fun to drive a SoundRacer is much more affordable at $39 and it will not disturb people outside the car.

This is a low pitch so it does NOT sound like a ferrrari which is a high pitch. The FIAT Arbath's stock exhaust sounds closer to a Ferrari at idle 1500 rpm.
