Ingredients:-
For the marination:-
1 kg chicken
¼ tsp. turmeric powder
1 tsp. salt

Paste 1 for marination:-
To be ground to a paste
2” ginger
10 cloves of garlic
½ bunch of coriander
5 spicy green chillies

Paste 2 for Xacuti Masala:-
1 tbsp oil
2 onions sliced
3 green chillies
1” ginger
5 cloves of garlic
1 coconut grated
½ a bunch of coriander

Paste 3 for Xacuti Masala:-
2” cinnamon
3 green cardamom pods
1 tsp. aniseeds
1 tsp. Black peppercorns
1 tbsp poppy seeds
1 tbsp coriander seeds
10 Kashmiri chillies
1 star anise
1 mace
¼ piece of nutmeg

For Finishing:-
2 tsp. Groundnut oil
2 onions sliced
3 green chillies slit
¼ cup water

Method:-
1. Add salt and turmeric powder to the chicken, add paste 1 and marinade for ½ an hour.
2. For paste 2 heat 1 tbsp oil and sauté the sliced onions, chillies, ginger and garlic for a few minutes.
3. Add the coconut and sauté for 7-10 minutes till the onions are crisp and grind to a fine paste along with the coriander.
4. To make paste 3 dry roast all the ingredients and mix with paste 2 ingredients and then grind to a fine paste.
5. Heat oil in a pan and add the onion and green chillies and sauté.
6. Then add the marinated chicken and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
7. Then add the ground paste and mix well.
8. Add some water and salt and cover and cook till the chicken is done.
9. Serve hot with rice or bread.

Spicy Chicken Xacuti is ready to eat!

In Goa when we make the chicken xacuti. ..we marinate the chicken in just turmeric and little ginger garlic paste. Also, we do not add green coriander with the coconut. it's only used for garnishing.

Lol the name had me in Splits!!! Its Xacuti (they got it right in the description) but not the title. The authentic one is a bit different then this but if u are trying for the first time this method works.

You cook chicken xacuti is very nice but this is not real Goan xacuti bcoz I know how to make Goan xacuti bcoz I'm from Goa

This is not a Goan recipe. It might taste amazing but when one names a dish after a famous recipe one must stay true to the recipe. I only suggest we must show the recipe we name as there are many viewers who are constantly learning from these recipes

I'm Goan and I've never had this type of dish... The real dish is called XACUTI and the green corriander is added in the end to garnish and also, the masala is too spicy.... We use Kashmiri chillies in Xacuti only because they are not spicy yet they add a beautiful red colour. The Xacuti is mostly red or orange in colour. You have added rest of the spices correctly it's only the green chillies and corriander.... In Goa we make green masala chicken and that uses green chillies and corriander...
