Is it time to switch to Intel Arc GPUs? A770 16GB vs RX 6700 XT in the latest games & drivers (2023)

preview_player
Показать описание
Intel's Arc A770 offers 16GB of VRAM for only $329. But is it worth it? Is it worth buying an Intel Arc GPU now that they have had a ton of driver updates? While Intel can offer compelling performance per dollar compared to Nvidia, the real problem is that it needs to also offer better value than AMD. AMD's RX 6700 XT offers 12GB of VRAM and a ton of performance for about the same price as the Arc A770. So is it time to switch to Intel? Or is AMD still the better value in 2023?

I really can't think of any practical reason to get an A770 over a 6700XT. I get people buying it as a novelty or whatever but in practical terms there's basically no reason as far as I can see

Five months later drivers have almost doubled dx11 performance.

To be honest, once I went from nvidia to AMD, I was amazed of how smooth the frametime was on AMD. Sure, I have heard that AMDs dirvers/software has been in a rough spot in the past, but it seems like their driver/software overhaul is REALLY starting to pay off right now. Looking at the frametime of the A770, even if it was slightly faster than the 6700XT I would not choose it, because having an even frame delivery is crucial to a smooth gaming experience. I hope that intel will fix this of course, it's honestly great to have them compete with the current duopoly. 😅

Some youtubers definitely overstating how good the A770 is...I mean yes it has improved a lot since launch, but then it kind of HAD to or else it would've destroyed intel's credibility in the gpu space. And as can be seen here, it's still hard to take it as a serious contender against other similarly priced gpu's. Intel should really be more aggressive on pricing and move the 16gb model down to the $200-$250 range and then it would be worth taking another look at.

The A770 looked so much better before amd price cuts but I don’t think they can make it much cheaper because its die size and specs its more of a 70 class card competitor but not in performance. I still want a limited edition card for my collection I love the way it looks and I like collecting gpu’s.

I bought the ASRock card 16GB version and it is freaking awesome now with the latest Intel drivers. It beat my RX 6700 XT, and I even replaced my RTX 3070 Ti (I'll be selling this on Jawa in the near future). I predict this card is going to be on par with the RTX 4070, eventually.

Intel still has a lot to do with the drivers but they make good progress. The sad part is that most of the optimization is left to the hardware manufacturers, because developers don't really optimize games anymore.

I've finally got into my next gaming phase after buying a 6700xt late last year. It's fantastic! I've been playing watch dogs legion and the system shock remake. system shock is an absolute gem!

0:20 meanwhile in Germany the difference is 100€, because the 16 GiB version is quite expensive at 379€.

Any plans to do an updated video with current drivers? I heard that Intel made good progress in the last few weeks, especially in DX11 games.

If you want AV1 just get the A380 as a cheaper secondary card.

Make sure you enable the ReBAR or SAM in bios.

Not to mention that the 6700xt is performing better into old systems, to a user like me whos still rocking an i7 6700k, imo amd is still best option.

2:33 why is using so much ram in 6700xt
and almost 8gb less with the arc?
even if is using more vram in the arc than the 6700xt

Crazy how much this channel has grown.. i found you when or just before the 3000 series and 5000 series CPUs were coming out. You had maybe 200 subs.

I bought an a770 for curiosity and while its no where close to my 7900xtx it is definitely livable with slightly lower graphic settings (particularly shadows) and the $500 worth of software that came with the a770 is pretty great and definitely impacts the value in my eyes. Not a lot of reviewers talk about that side of things.

I got a used Sapphire Nitro+ 6700xt in January and it has been amazing - undervolts and over-performs 😍

A video with XeSS vs FSR 2 would be nice. There are several FSR 2 versions out there with some looking better or worse depending on the game. Not all games look good with FSR 2 and more games look decent with XeSS. I think more games should be updated to FSR 2.2 to make things fair. And XeSS also has 2 version where 1 looks and performs better on Intel GPU's whilst other cards use the DP4a version.

after all I think the amd 8gb vram was well calculated on the amd side. people that have money for 4k monitors wont be buying 8gb video cards anyway. I have a RX6600 and dont plan to leave 1080p for the next 5 years at least
