Nailed it. When a man falls silent, you havent won, you've just lost him. When he realizes that he cant find peace with you, he will find it without you

When I go silent, it usually means that I am done. I’m not one to fight either.

The greatest problem I have ever encountered in arguing with a woman is that she is more interested in HER being right than actually coming to a real truthful or honest conclusion.
Even when she knows you are right, it has now become a her against him issue, and she doesn't want to lose.
It doesn't matter if the woman is the cause, or the man. If you can't break this cycle, there is no relationship.

i lived this for 20 years in order to protect my children from that very pain... You really understand who men are and how difficult it is to grow in todays society. Your shorts help me to trust that women can learn to understand not only the value of the men in her life but her own value as a partener to a man

Men go silent for 3 reasons; he sees the fight as pointless, he has lost the will to fight, or he is about to start fighting without words.

When a man goes silent, he is just stopping the heartbreak and frustration. If it continues, he waits until his responsibilities are taken care of, then he gives up and leaves.

Silence means I fucking don't even care anymore.

Honestly, you are spot on with most things. I used to ask to always resolve arguments in healthy ways which never happened. Silence was the only option I was left with.

When she said. I never want to talk. Its clear. She doesn't care about how or what you feel. She only cares about herself.

EXACTLY! But women never shut up when it comes to arguing. They don’t know when to turn it off!

Ask any woman about a man's silence and she will make it out that she is the victim. That he is just doing this in order to hurt her because the guy knows that she hates it. You can't ever win with an eternal victim.

That’s because all she wants is an argument, not a conversation.

Once there's silence it's done.

Growing in a single mother household with 3 sisters, silence became my life long survival mechanism. They don't care about how you feel if it doesn't conform with their own feelings, they refuse to accept basic truths and facts unless they hear it from a man that they're attracted to (even if he repeats you word for word) I've found that going silent is necessary with all kinds of women but especially so with black American women, you will not survive a relationship, or the culture, if you don't know how to go silent on them.

I've actively watched my mom, sisters, aunts, and their friends destroy relationship after relationship with good and valuable men in part because they NEED to be right about everything; they have selective concern/sympathy/empathy for our thoughts and desires based on how they feel at the moment; so as men we have to approach every conversation by leading their emotions first before we can say what we want to say, it's like dealing with children, and at the end the women are the only ones that end up alone and desperate for attention and a partner, but the men they want can't stand more than a 10 minute conversation with them.

A man's equivalent to 'I'm fine'.

I’d go silent on my ex after saying there’s no point in arguing with her… she’d then play victim and say I was “stonewalling” and I was abusive because of it. Then I’d leave the room to have her follow me to continue with her tirade. She did this too many times to remember. I’m single now and going to be giving her a large chunk of money (that she’s legally untitled to; not rightfully, ethically or morally). It’ll be worth every cent to NEVER have to put up with that bullshit ever again. Lesson learned. I’m forever single!

Exactly. I've given up trying to please you. Either I just can't live up to your expectations or you just can't be pleased, and at this point I may not even care which it is. Engaging just steals my peace, or I'm afraid I might say something that can't be recovered from.
