Instead of "Let's go get food", more colloquial might be, "Let's grab a bite". As for payment time, "Split it" would be more likely to be said with several people, or a waiter or waitress (or "server") might ask a group, "single or separate (checks)?", but colloquially a man and woman splitting the check or bill might be said to be "going Dutch" (each paying for themself).

Pay separately does not mean split it. Pay separately means that each person pays for their own individual meal. Splitting the tab means doing 50/50 regardless of what you ordered
