IT IS HARD TO COMPLETELY FLUSH A TRANSMISSION OF ANTIFREEZE!!!!

A torque converter sits in front of an automatic transmission. When the transmission is contaminated with antifreeze, the torque converter holds half of the fluid or more.

Putting the transmission cooler inside the radiator is one of the dumbest things engineered in the automotive industry

Very thoroughly explained, complete with logic and rationale. DAMN good video!

Most transmissions have magnets in the pan but aluminum is not magnetic so fine particles will remain suspended in the fluid and migrate to become sediment anywhere in the transmission system. The fine sediment passes right through a filter. The same gray goo that you are getting out of a torque converter is also in the rest of the transmission. If a transmission cooler becomes contaminated it will allow fine aluminum particles to get back into fresh fluid after a fluid change.

That convertor looked like it had oil and coolant mixed first then that mixture made it into the transmission, ,
Appreciate what your doing sir, ,
Did the engine have an issue,
I've never seen it that color, , always strawberry milkshake color

Yes! You can not just flush a transmission contaminated with anti-freeze especially with these lock-up converters. The clutch material will flake off & you'll burn up the transmission. Informative vid

Simply: drain fluid as much as it comes out on particular car. Fill it, drive it and drain it again few times. If you wanna keep your car for a long tine that is;) Mine cars ran hundreds of thousands of miles with auto trans no problems:)

Hello Sir. Question. I have a custom project with a 10l80. When i installed the torque convertor i added dexron vi instead of dexron ULV inside of TC. The engine has not been started. And the transmission has no ATF other than whats in the TC. Do i need to replace the TC or is there a way around that?
Thanks appreciate your time

My transmission was under water, I know I have to drain it, my question is do I have to drop transmission to clean torque converter or is it sealed from water ?

So how do you flush a torque converter!

So. Do you have to replace torque converter?

What if your torque converter has a drain plug?

Can a blown head gasket cause the internal radiator leak which results in this?

I had a pile of dry matter, settled in the bottom of my oil drain pan. It was enough to fill at least a 32 Oz yogurt container!, or more! I did have transmission fluid - but smells burnt, and dark black red.

Thank you, again, Q3! I did ask about a new external transfer oil cooler. Now, I will do that. I was going to put a filter on the line. I guess I can still do that, and change it after 100 miles or less, and every 3, 000 miles?

Or, would an inline filter slow the flow too much? I was thinking of putting a filter on both lines initially; but, with a new cooler, it would go on the line TO the cooler - to protect the new cooler... ?

I guess, I will flush the block too. I need an oil change anyway.
