Okay, it’s not an epic choreography number, but their usage of the environment to match the beat, like sorting the trash via garbage can top, was pretty cool!

I love this version the most because 1. The songs sound amazing she has an amazing voice with or without auto tune 2. I never really see blacked kid actresses in movies so when I watched this when it came out I was obsessed and still is

i love this film, seeing a little black girl with her natural hair play a happy role is just so refreshing

I can see why a lot of people don’t like this version but I still think it’s pretty good in its own right or at least for younger generations

In the original, annie was given up during the Great Depression to an orphanage, a place where her likely financially struggling parents could know that she’d be safe, and they did die before they could get her. In this version, they ditched her at a restaurant. They definitely are horrible people in this one.

I like this version better, I think because it's easier to relate to more modern kids.

I strangely get nostalgia from this even though I barely remember this movie

My mom from way back when in the great depression knew the comic strip of "Lil Orphan Annie"--she lived through the not-so-great depression when unemployment was like 28%--she loved "Tomorrow" & I'm pretty sure, cuz she loved 2 biracial grandkids & passed before she could love triracial great-grandkids, pretty sure she loves 21st century Annie.

It's the hard-knock life for us
'Stead of treated
We get tricked
'Stead of kisses
We get kicked
It's the hard-knock life
Don't if feel like the wind is always howl'n?
Don't it seem like there's never any light?
Once a day, don't you wanna throw the towel in?
It's easier than puttin' up a fight
No one's there when your dreams at night get creepy
No one cares if you grow or if you shrink
Empty belly life
Rotten smelly life
Full of sorrow life
No tomorrow life
Santa Claus we never see
Santa Claus, what's that?
Who's he?
No one cares for you a bit
When you're a foster kid
It's the hard-knock life
Make my bathroom shine
But don't touch my medicine cabinet
It's the hard-knock life for us (yank the whiskers from her chin)
It's the hard-knock life for us (jab her with a safety pin)
'Stead of treated
We get tricked (send her to the looney bin)
'Stead of kisses
We get kicked
It's the hard-knock life for us (yank the whiskers from her chin)
It's the hard-knock life for us (jab her with a safety pin)
No one cares for you a bit (send her to the looney bin)
When you're a foster kid
It's the hard-knock life
It's the hard-knock life

I like the song and the presentation in both the '82 version and this version though I'd give this one the thumbs up on the sound and rhythm and the '82 version on the choreography and dynamism of the scene. All the children are cute though in both versions.

This movie is one of my old time favorites 😊❤

the two things i found myself focusing on during hard knock life were how they were exceedingly coordinated and yet super inefficient and then that one kid kept using the oven door as a step stool and it made me cringe cause ive seen them break like that

This is my absolute favorite version because it’s more modernized and they put in a black girl which is truly showing more culture but I still love the original because she created the character

I used to cry and relate to her so much as a child
