Outstanding acts of bravery, support for our new officers and championing of diversity were among the winners at our inspiring force awards last night.
One of our officers who was seriously injured during his truly heroic response to a fire at a block of flats in Luton last year was given a standing ovation as he collected the PC Jon Henry Shield in recognition of his incredible courage.
Medical professionals who have treated him since the incident were also honoured by the force in recognition of their remarkable work.
Other winners included our training team, who have worked tirelessly to give our new student officers the best possible start to their career in policing, as well as Sergeant Sandra Smith and Sam Alexander for their work championing the Women of Colour in Policing movement.
Chief Constable Trevor Rodenhurst said: “Last night’s ceremony was a fantastic way to celebrate all the incredible achievements of our officers and staff and my first as Chief Constable of Bedfordshire Police.
“I was blown away by the stories we heard of heroism, inclusivity and outstanding contributions to policing.
“I continue to be incredibly proud of everything that our officers, staff and volunteers achieve. Their courage, compassion, professionalism and outstanding contributions to policing can never be taken for granted.
“I would like to congratulate all of our winners, runners up and everyone else who continues to contribute to policing, every day.
“I would also like to thank our sponsors for their support, recognising our workforce is incredibly important and the event could not happen without them.”
