I'll be alot more excited for the AMD APUs when they finally get RDNA2 graphics cores. Steam Deck will pave the way, hopefully consumer available ones won't be far behind. These APUs have been around for years with very little graphics improvement so while I think they are great, it's time for a significant update. Great video, Danny!

Another great video! I've been using Ryzen APUs so much in customer builds this past year or more. They crush most Esports titles. 2200G, 3200G, 3400G, 4600G, 4700G, and 5600G are all great for their respected prices. Well, 2200Gs were way cheaper before the pandemic... along with everything else lol.

They could just write Ryzen 5600g Graphics or Vega 5000 series instead of Vega 7 for less confusion. I recently bought a 5600g pc with 16gb ram and I have no regrets.

You also have to remember that game developers also support game consoles so the 5600g is a little bit above the Playstation 5 cpu, unlike the 3400g, even though the Vega 7 is equal to the Playstation 4 gpu.

Anyways, that's an informative comparison video. Keep up the great work! :D

See this is an ad spot you do that I like. I really hope you keep them tech related!

I’m glad you uploaded a video about this because I just got a 3200G and 8GB of RAM for $50 locally. I guess my daughter is getting a PC for Christmas!

Just by multiplying the graphics core to their frequency hinted that the 3400G would do better. So yes, a bit of a surprise there.

They're both around 1.7 TFLOPs. AMD TFLOP formula is (shader cores*2)*clock. Applications that favor more shaders will run better on 11, while applications that don't rely on number of shaders but instead are optimized for fewer at higher clock speed will run better on 7. Wide highway versus high speed limit. It's almost like what you see with nvidia vs AMD graphics, where a similar performing nvidia card will have fewer shader cores at much higher clock speed compared to the AMD competitor.

I would have loved to see a “new” Vega 11 with its current APU clock speeds on the 5700G as AMD has done an Intel and gotten stagnant but on IGPU performance. This would have seen an amazing 720p and good 1080p gaming AIO unit for compact builds, HTPCs & kids budget gaming rigs 🥰👍🥳

I built a machine last year based on 4650g. I'm quite happy with it, although the system was hella unstable for the first half a year. Wasn't even sure if it was a software bug or a hardware fault, since I couldn't be sure of my 4650g origin -- supposedly they all come from China with no package or warranty. They could even be returnees or salvagees. But after a few driver updates the crashes seem to have dwindled in frequency. Don't even remember now when I last saw one.

Interesting - you should do a comparison between the UHD 620 and the Vega 3/Vega 2.

I saw Wednesdays stream and I have to say... the bonfire shirts were way better than the other. The print was higher quality and I noticed that the position of the print was awkward on the other one

Ddr5 and tsmc 5nm allows for an unimaginable performance leap.
Something like a GTX 1650 is doable, if not even more powerful.

That CPU Usage for the 5600g is phenomenal!

Ah, this was the exact video I was looking for. It didn't make any sense to me that the new chip came with a lower-spec APU and I was wondering why that was. The answer is a slightly dingbat naming convention means that the less powerful chip (with higher core count, but inferior in most other ways) has a higher series number.

If you include overclocking, the 3400G is better. You can overclock the iGPU to 1700Mhz easily, which gives it a significant boost over the 5600G. Mostly because it has 4 CUs more.
And it is indeed a valid option, due to the fact that the Bx50 boards are unlocked. Everyone could do it. Just go into the bios, set the iGPU-speed to 1700Mhz, done.

Nice info ... I bought some 3200g's and a 3400g pre-covid and haven't built those machines yet. Feel lucky. If you managed to get one prior to the shortages, seems to me that the 3400g when it came out is pretty comparable to the 5600g. I mean an overall 10% performance difference isn't a HUGE delta. So if you can get a used 3400g for cheap, might be worth it. I paid 200$CAD for mine (around 160$USD)

yeah, i'm looking for some used laptop with best vega apu for value and this is a nightmare with this amd nomenclature xD

i think you can overclock the 3400g's vega 11 to get more performance? I am not sure about this
