Lightish sets really are ideal bc your last rep is a diminishing return. With really heavy weights there is still a rep you can do that is less than the heavy but heavier than light if you just reduced by 5-10lbs but did 2-3 more reps.
So youre still getting like 80% closer to actual failure by having a whole nother rep.
There are gains left on the table.

200lbs to failure and 300lbs to failure is not the same point of failure.
300lb failure isnt the most you can do.
Like doing a 1 rep max you could still do a whole workout after it would be dumb to just go in jim and do 1 rep maxes.
No one is doing that. But doing 5lbs to failure would also be kindof silly.
