Want me to use self checkout? Then pay me to use it. It only saves the grocery store money, pass it along to the customer. I want $10 off every order no matter what is being purchased. I don't care if it's only a pack of gum. Not my problem.

I feel like this will be funnier when retail isn't the most common job. For the vast majority of people who have jockeyed a register for a year or two, getting rid of cashiers is like getting rid of valet parking. Besides, as a rejoinder I'd offer that many of us have encountered cashiers who needed help and just wished we could scan the items ourselves and go about our day. Not to mention retail workers have plenty to do besides checkout - when they summon more cashiers for a rush those people weren't smoking out back . They were stocking, cleaning, signing, checking prices and selling. Just have a trained cashier show your kid how to use the self checkout and then take them to the grocery store and make them operate it. Just like when you used to program the VCR for your parents.

I'm 17 and my dad asked me to buy him something with his card for the first time. I don't know why, but I went to the self-checkout on my own accord. I needed to ask for help.

This is why you can’t completely get rid of cashiers. People can’t figure simple things out.

I like to use self checkout when I only have a few things and don’t wanna wait behind someone buying an entire month’s worth of groceries.

I refuse to use self-checkout. Why would I pay the same price for everything if I’m going to do the job??? I should get at least 10 % off for doing the work.😂

That banana scenario is my worst nightmare. The lookup for produce used to be horrible, so you'd always end up needing the pit boss if your sticker disappeared on the way to the checkouts.
