At 3am the musicians are starting to doze off, coming in late, playing lazily and sarcastically 😂

I always imagined this song to sort of reflect the feeling of being so sleepy your start feeling drunk.

the wah-wah trumpet literally sounds like a Peanuts character yelling at you to go to bed lol

I also want to note that it sounds like, at certain points, the plunger-mute trombone player is jumping the gun on his cue and/or just straight up playing at the wrong time
Almost like a way of saying "please go to bed, we can't until you do"

I how the trombone mocks you. Like, "We both know it's crazy late and you have to get up early. I'm not being silly, you're being silly"
And the simplicity of playing with the AC theme, it really is a fantastic execution of exactly what it needs to be

3:01 Oh my god! Okay, so, I teach in Japan, right? In Japan, almost every class starts and ends with students standing and bowing. But in music class, they usually play 3 chords on the piano for students to stand, bow forward, than raise their heads at each chord. I think the chords are C-G7-C? I don’t know piano, I usually just play C-G-C. Either way, in Japan, basically, that IS like the sound of “Class is done”!!! So maybe it was on purpose?!?

A lot of people give Animal Crossing: New Horizons' hourly music flak because it doesn't have the same feel as the older Animal Crossing games, but personally, I love it, and I think it has its own charms, and the 3am theme is the perfect example of it. 😅

Animal Crossing, 3am: WTF! Why are you still up!? GO TO BED!

Also, Charles having a conniption about the minimalistic nature of Animal Crossing music that's just a joke about the music yelling at you to go to bed is what I needed as a midday treat during work.

What makes it so much better is that it's also is a play on the main theme of the game, as well as fitting in the context of the other hours in the day. (except 4am, which is creepy, but that might be because of the Japanese unlucky number being 4)

Animal Crossing has always done that, it will always have that track of "OH? YOU'RE STILL AWAKE??" and then it would follow up with "Now I need to make you sleepy."

It’s also worth noting that if you’re watching TV in ACNH at 3am (or is it 3:33 specifically?) on a Saturday (again iirc), aliens interrupt the broadcast, so I figured it was something weird to reflect that witching hour vibe
