That's why you just buy $1, 000 to $3, 000 beaters and drive em into the ground, that way you don't care if they're wrecked or not, you just want them to work. If each beater lasts you longer than a few years, you got your money's worth

Bring your scan tool & ask questions about it to owner "THEN " go thru it by yourself, as where " NOT TO BE DISTRACTED" by somebody blabbing in your ear. I've had that happen many times. Oh "VERY IMPORTANT, " please don't let the thrill of the hunt, 4 new wheels, CLOUD your better judgement. If your gut instinct is talkin` to ya, that there might be an issue, listen to it & "WALK AWAY!" 😲

This actualy used to be my dad's business, buying wrecked cars and sending them to his mechanic. This have him a good eye to see damage in cars and decide if his mechanic can fix the damages to make the car like new while still being profitable. He taught me to check these things but also to evaluate if we could fix it. For us it was abiut judging how bad was the damage.
Good video as always :)

A way to check if a car has been flooded, open the trunk and check the place where the spare tire sits. If is rusty, damp or smells, then it was flooded

Scotty I had bought a 2019 Chevy sonic. One day I went to clean and detail her I lifted the cover for the spare tire it was filled with water and had black mold growing. I called Chevy they didn't want to cover it with the warranty. So I said bye bye to the car. Gave it back to them

Always check out the under body and wheel wells. You can tell a lot about a car by looking underneath. Look in the trunk and in the spare tire well and the sides of the trunk panels for any damage. Check that door and panel gaps are uniform. Check that paint shade is the same all over. Check for body ripples when you sight down the side. Look for paint over spray on bodyside mouldings, etc. Look up under the dash for burned wires or other damage. All doors hood and trunk open and close properly? Windows go up and down properly with no binding?

One fender side: NO GAP...
Other side: GAP of the Grand Canyon...

Like my Mirage that was T boned on the driver & passenger side & my Explorer that was rear ended but they're both fixed to specs.

Yes, a sorta loose front bumper and non matching paint are detrimental to getting from A to B

I’d totally still buy that Toyota if the engine and transmission are in good shape

Hard to find a car that’s 15 years old that has not been in some kind of fender bender, especially with the amount of car vs deer incidents here in PA. If you are only paying one or two thousand for a car who cares if there are cosmetic issues, as long as it runs OK no problem.

Hmm... I should check my spare tyre compartment... I don't do that nearly often enough.

Also check the rear wheels on the Corolla. They aren't adjustable if they get bent

When it's wrecked beyond repair, but they repair it, it's a lemon. Obviously a car with 2 paint jobs from fender and hood, is also a lemon.
