DAVE “GHOSTY” WILLS has been a DJ on New Jersey’s WFDU (89.1FM) since 1994, and currently hosts “THE VINTAGE ROCK AND POP SHOP” Sundays 12 noon-3 pm (et.) mixing music from the 40’s through the 70’s with many great interviews with people in the entertainment business (music, TV, film.) He also spent more than 5 years on Sirius Satellite Radio as host on Radio 118: Radio Classics. Dave has been one of the finest interviewers in radio, and you can find many examples of his work on his You Tube channel GHOSTY TMRS. Ken and Dave review the often-maligned “Driving Rain” album from Paul McCartney (2001,) comment about all the songs, and discuss why the album deserves to be more appreciated.

Geat music is just great music. Iove various genres. becausse decades of .music from my parents, the Beatles and still able. to enjoy their creative force and amazing work ethic still as solo true musicians and true song painters.

Great show guys. You got me excited to revisit this album. When I bought the CD probably listened to it 2 or 3 times, put it back on the shelf and unless one of these songs comes on Breakfast With the Beatles out here in So Cal I haven't heard these songs in almost 20 years. Lonely Road and Your Loving Flame were great songs in concert in his 2002 shows, they really fit well in the set. Completely forgot about Your Way, a pure McCartney classic with melodic hook to die for. Brilliant song. I remember liking Spinning on an Axis and Rinse the Raindrops back then. I agree, maybe this album could have used some editing. Freedom doesn't fit on the album at all. I think it's one of those songs Paul wanted to expose, never really caught on. This album could be every bit as good as New and Egypt Station, need to give it a listen on a long drive. Thanks for the

Great discussion, guys. Ghosty has a wonderfully comforting radio program. I really need to revisit this album soon, because as of now it remains the least of all Paul's original works. Yes, there is a "lower tier" even for Macca - and, for me, this one is down there in it (and I felt that way even before Paul and Heather had their publicized problems).

LOVE This album it us probobaly in the 15-20 range for me but it is still a great record and criminally underrated.

Great video. I enjoy watching Ghosty’s YouTube channel as well. Driving Rain is definitely in the lower ranking of McCartney albums for me personally but I do go back to it. I love Loving Flame, Magic, Tiny Bubble and Heather and Lonely Road, From A Love to A Friend are not bad and even Your Way is okay. I may warm up to it even more as time goes on just like it did for McCartney II. Great discussion. Thanks!

Hi Ken, Driving rain album is an example of a Paul album that people simply dismiss without listening to in an objective way. Some albums fall into the" great "Paul albums whilst others like Driving rain fall into the" poor" dismissed albums. This is too simplistic and sadly shows the sheep mentality of many fans and critics.
My favourite album of Paul's is Wildlife and this is definately categorised as a "poor" Paul record. Both Wildlife and Driving rain share the speed they were recorded and a live feel to their sound and recording.
Driving rain contains some real gems .I would only criticise its length and its awful cover overwise its a good Paul album.
Thanks Ken

Pretty good review of DR in my opinion. I dont mind Freedom tacked on at the end, at least its easy to avoid if you dont like it. Heather is a beautiful tune, i do as well

This record is showing the bare bone of McCartney himself after Linda's death. And this album is my favorite Paul album.

With a bit of editing DR could have been great. Love Shes Giving Up Talking, Heather, I Do, Rinse the Raindrops, About You, Riding to Jaipur and the title track. I would have jettisoned Spinning on an Axis and Magic.

Great story at end of video. You probably would have caught something you would be regretting today, so probably good she got fired.
