Even though sound effects and tonalities are missing, I feel like Google hit the mark with more human-like conversations. The voice has some limits, but it sounds more polished than OpenAI’s. The content is just the right length and gives you interactive choices. Also, the way she talked about feelings and self-awareness shows a paradigm shift in how they’re portraying AI to people. It seems more confident in its role and more open to express opinions. I think Google’s a step ahead right now.

I asked Gemini what the best AI assistant was and it bragged about itself being the best no matter how I seemed to prompt it. When I asked the same question to ChatGPT advanced voice mode, I got a completely different response. It did NOT uphold itself as the best and actually weighed the differences between voice assistants and their pros and cons, including that of itself.

There's no point trying to get it to do things with voice as it's clearly old-school text generation with separate STT and TTS models, so that's a huge disadvantage compared to 4o. But I do like that it's more compliant

Google is known for putting out "meh" products. It works, but it's not exactly state of the art. Not nearly as brilliant as OpenAI's variant, guardrails notwithstanding.

When you managed to get it to answer questions more 'truthfully', you should've tried to investigate the limitations Google has imposed upon it.

Would be neat to hear one of these models actually describe how it is being prompted to answer, which way its being nudged politically etc
