Is Spiderman's swinging slow? In anticipation of Spiderman 2 I reviewed marvels spiderman and spiderman miles morales and said that both Peter Parker and Miles Morales swinging was slow compared to other spiderman swinging. You disagreed.

The web swinging in Ultimate Spider-Man is criminally underrated imo. The speed boost you could pull off and being able to climb up webs was pretty neat for how bare bones the system was (SM2 was goated ngl)

In Spider-Man 2 speed looks pretty improved

Spider Man 2 has answered your prayer for faster movement

You can damn near break the sound barrier in Web of Shadows

Imagine calling someone out for saying the swinging is slow just for insomniac to basically say they agree 💀

Looking back after playing the sequel for a few weeks I didn't realise how slow we actually had

You can actually swing really fast by letting go before you go up and quickly swing again. You get more speed by doing that, but unfortunately, you are close to the ground, and you may hit the ground, thereby losing all of your speed

Some of the funnest swinging I've had was in the amazing spiderman games. You could just fly across the streets. The swinging in the new games definetly feels slower than previous titles

reaching peak speed in web of shadows and hearing peters heavy breath, was always calling for chills

It’s because the ps4 couldn’t handle the high speeds and load everything in on time. I’m pretty sure the devs even said they wanted it be faster but couldn’t. Now with Spider-Man 2 being exclusively on ps5 it already shows how they originally wanted the speed

It definitely felt slow to me too. I was dying to get the swinging upgrades during my playthrough

Yeah they really fixed that in the new speider-man 2 - you can zoom across the entire map in less than a minute ez, and they added so many things to increase speed.

I remember swinging so fast in web of shadows that I’d literally entered into unloaded chunks of map, causing the game to either freeze to load in the map and events, or it would crash the whole console.

Anyone remember Spider-Man 2 and 3 on the PS2? If I remember correctly, you could go blindingly fast if you timed holding and pressing the button at the right moment between each webswing, it was a bit hard to do 'cause of how blurry the screen would get. Once you had the black suit, you could go even faster, and with that speed, one of my favorite things to do was launch myself extremely high after reaching peak momentum. Never got old. The webswinging mechanic in Ultimate Spider-Man was fun too.

I use the “movie style” swinging where you pretty much release the button the second you start moving upwards in your swing. It pretty much throws you and if timed right you can keep the momentum and make swinging really fast

Totally agree with you. Hope in the sequel we can swing in a loop also

SM2 felt really quick and amazing to handle, but I did miss the opportunities to web zip through obstacles. Apart from the staircases and a few suspended pipes there are not too many opportunities to do that

I actually completely agree with this criticism. Pretty much every play session I end up thinking, "man I really can't go any faster?". Even when timing my swing boosts as optimally as possible, you just can't go faster. It also feels like the swing speed and web zip momentum unpredictably throttle themselves due to either terrain and mission type. (Perfect example is car chases. Go ahead and try to web zip, I dare you.)

Never did I once say, “ yo this web swinging is to slow” and I’ve platinumed the first game twice and miles once

Imsomniac listened to this guy and increased the speed of swinging
