I worked for Honda when they started recruiting line workers to hand build the most recent NSX. The prerequisites to apply were pretty insane. If I remember correctly, you had to have had at least a minimum of 20 years of assembly experience to even be considered. Those cars are incredibly well-built by the absolute best Honda has to offer.

Doug has to know he’s increasing the value of all these cars by 20%+ every time he makes a video like this.

The MINI Cooper S is criminally underrated, aside from reliability. My sister used to have a 2014 with a convertible and 6 speed manual. Boy was that car fun to drive

It's so funny, I loved seeing the E60 M5 make an appearance here because I owned one from 2016-2021. It was a 2007 model year, it had the 6-speed manual transmission, and the only thing I ever did was upgrade the exhaust system. I bought it with ~55k miles and added about 60k miles in my ownership. Matter of fact, I even sold that car on carsandbids last September when it was finally time to part ways with her. Problems I experienced with that car? Absolutely none. All the documentation around the rob bearing issues, I never had a single issue with it in my car. I like to attribute this to the fact that I bought one of the few manuals that came through the states. In the end, it was time for something new, but boy do I miss that car. It was sluggish in the corners, but god what a straight-line rocket ship that car was. I live in Dallas where we have amazing new highways, and I'm not ashamed to admit that the downshift from 6th to 4th in conjunction with the nearly 9k redline is something I'd enjoy regularly.... What a dream. Miss that car. Great video as always, Doug!

As a 2019 F56 MINI JCW owner, I have to say it is a very underrated car. It handles insanely well in the corners, and surprisingly fast. However I do agree that it is a bit lacking in power, which is why I am considering to put a tune and upgrade the intercooler. I used to own a '12 Cooper S with the Peugeot 1.6 engine. Very fun and nippy car, quite fast too at the time for a hatchback. But reliability was questionable, and ended up breaking down in the end. Doug's mention on the Cooper S really made my day because it's about time the F-generation MINIs get more publicity.

I'm right there with you on the Mini Cooper S. I'm a muscle car guy, who drives a Ram 2500 on 40 inch tires regularly. And I bought a 2014 Mini Cooper S and I've absolutely fallen in love with the car. It damn near handles as well as some of my past more expensive cars. It might not be as fast as my Corvette was or my GXP, but it always puts a smile on my face. Recently drove it from Boise, Id to Phoenix and back. So much fun. And my Corvette couldn't do 31mpg while sloshing through Nevada mountain roads.

For the new category I want to add the Camaro. It's selling so poorly, every month we get rumors about it being cancelled. Have only heard good things about the platform and it punches well above its price in any trim.

Kia Forte GT manual/Hyundai Elantra N Line: These 2 have the same formula as the Civic Si could be a cheap enthusiast bargain.

Jetta GLI: I never see them around but they are cheaper than a GTI fully loaded and have plenty of space.

Anytime you want to review the TTRS, I'll hand you my keys! It's such an underrated car and I kind of love that. It feels exclusive because it's so rare, and it's fun, lots of fun.

As a Mini Cooper S owner, thanks for the love Doug

As an owner of a 22 Mini Cooper S, it is an omega fun quick little car that dodges through traffic really nicely with basically no blind spots, is quicker than Doug says, and still gets above 30 mpg (as long as you don’t drive it like i do). I just moved house, and I didn’t even have many issues with loading because you can fold down the rear seats and have a lot of space.

While on vacation last year my rental vehicle (a base level altima) was not available, so we were upgraded to a John Cooper Works Mini for free and wow. The handling felt well planted and precise, the engine was zippy and responsive. I had driven an '02 na Mini before and had fun with it, but the new JCW model sold me on the fact that Mini can make a serious car that is still true to the fun Mini ethos

Not sold in the US but I believe the Alpine A110 is a very underrated sport car ; I love the ethics, it is all about weight and handling and not so much about raw power, I find them very elegant truly

Yep agree 100% on 3rd gen Minis. My spouse and I have a F54S (B46 engine) Clubman and F57 convertible with the B38 3 cylinder i8 engine- both stick- and they are fantastic cars. Fun, tossable and have been reliable. They both feel well made with excellent ergonomics. I think the 1st and 2nd gen Minis had issues and expensive maintenance costs that soured people to the brand. Like the majority of European cars, you need to take care of your Mini- they are not appliances like souless Toyotas 😁. I DIY both our Minis and can't be happier with ownership. Honestly can't see myself owning anything else that balances fun to drive with unique personality. Just joyful cars to own!

Thanks Doug for your choice of the early PORSCHE Boxster as an underrated car. I love my 2000 base BOXSTER and feel it truly deserves some recognition as a wonderful and affordable sports car.

I’m halfway through university (Mechanical engineeeing) and I currently drive the ‘09 Mini Cooper S convertible. The current JCW hardtop seems like the perfect post college first car. The fun I am familiar with for a mini, new tech, warranty, all for $40k for a fully specced out JCW. Of course, I’ll have to wait till I get an engineering job to see what I can afford
