"We were a clear indication that official channels didn't work," says William Binney referencing Edward Snowden's decision to publicly leak National Security Agency's (NSA) collection of personal data on American citizens.

Binney, a former intelligence official, left the NSA in 2001 after more than 30 years with the agency. Since resigning, he has gone before Congress and the Department of Defense in an effort to bring accountability to the NSA.

This definitely explains why Edward Snowden didn't go through the proper channels of talking to a Senator or Represenative about it. It would have resulted in the same thing as this guys experience.

Unfortunately official or proper channels are sometimes as corrupt and dangerous as alternative ones !
