Don’t ask like that. Say: we should go out. When are you free? And then let her give you some days. If she doesn’t give you a definite days then she is not interested. You can ask again, at another time, but if she says no, or gives you a vague answer, then you stop asking. That doesn’t mean you ignore her. You just don’t ask again.

For once, i agree with her on the second and third point. If she is not interested at all, so be it, she has every right not to be but i would rather be clear about my intentions if and when i am actually interested. About not making any effort on her side, that’s a completly different story but, at some point i give up and move on ( the same could be said about friendship in fact).

The first, though, not quite. Even though i put in some work, it does not mean i deserve anything. That's not how it works.
