The explanation of gene, DNA was really good and the animation. Great video!

I got mine tested early and was very happy with the health/genetic report (got in right before the FDA made them stop; then it was reversed a year or two later). Since then, they upgraded the "chip" which promised more accurate reports. I resisted for many years but then relented and paid for another test with the upgraded chip. The report was essentially the same as the old chip. Then I noticed they wanted additional money for "enhanced reporting, " something I thought I was getting with the better chip and the additional money I sent them. I'm done.

You missed the biggest lie from 23andMe: they are NOT a whole human genome sequencing company, they only sample between 0.1% of your genome, so the conclusions they are drawing from this sparse data can be grossly inaccurate.

For those of use who do genetic genealogy, 23andme after the reaction to the data breach has become almost useless. There no longer is a chromosome comparison tool. Seems like a complete over reaction by the company, except maybe in the light of lawsuits. These days I use FT-DNA, GEDmatch, and My-Heritage that at least allow chromosome comparison.

YOU FORGOT: Hackers specifically targeted customers of Chinese and Ashkenazi Jewish descent.

I don't trust data security with companies anymore. I would like a method to do these things at home for myself and keep security in my own hands.

Their ancestry test is not exactly an ancestry test (please take a look at Scientific American article). They don't treat their customers' data in rigor of healthcare industry. They give out the customers' PHI and PII to law enforcement (the case of Golden State Killer had some merit but still).

High quality video. This should blow up!
Me and my friend did the 23andme test in 2020. We were never thought that there will be awful data breaches like that, but here we go.

I am happy that I was part of this trial in genetic testing, I learnt from it, especially the early health reports before government intervention were valuable to me. I am waiting for genetic manipulations for some diseases where it is possible. Tau growth in brains can be caused by an imbalance between leucine and proline amino acids. This has nothing to do with food intake but with gene (change).

Their mass data collection and annotation has been superseded by BGI Genomics in Shenzhen. And yep, Congress just passed a bill sanctioning BGI a few weeks back, no joke.

You gained a suscriber. I am taking a human genomics class in school and you explained everything so well.

Production quality on this is amazing! Great vid mate, excited to see more

On 23andMe, I think they set their scope too big but I saw a post on LinkedIn about their main achievements too: (1) scaled up at-home kit collection, (2) made a probabilistic and not definitive statement about a person's health at scale e.g. "you may have X disease"

the fact that they ascribe nationalities and religious affiliations to genes makes it not serious
