How to weld overhead on SMAW

This is a very good video and love the idea of using the cable to support yourself. Ive been welding almost  30 years and overhead is a very uncomfortable position to weld, especially when your doing the test.  For you people who think this is dangerous and unsafe because you might get a shock or a burn, have no experience in welding for giving those comments.

actually I found this a handy idea In our shop I set up a rig to hold my plate up out of scrap we have laying around so I get it a good 4 5 inches above my head then use my chest to help stabilize my arm usually using 6010 or 6011 as a rod 6011 is better for me but I am going to modify my rig so I can use the idea of using the cord as a sling that was just a great idea that never crossed my mind

if your employer ever sees u using your lead as an arm rest, you will be fired. if that molten puddle falls, it could land on the lead and damage it. rest your left arm on the poll and go from there.

i agreed to you, dai nguyen in testing or trade-test, but in working it can applied its your trick your the welder, but if you use this in trade testing, the moment you knot the wire your failed men, like old once said trade testing is hard but in its working you can do all stuffs you want.

Use a leather belt, something, anything but the grounding cable... Christ all mighty.

What happen if you can not put the plate 20 cm from the edge of the pipe? this trick can not be applied when testing or working. He fool you, men !
