Stop Saying This About Hayden's Anakin - Real Talk

While I always see tons of fans comparing Matt Lanter's Anakin to Hayden Christensen's Anakin, I find myself wondering...why?? They don't have to even be compared. They both played Anakin and ARE Anakin perfectly in their own field. When it comes to live action Anakin played by Hayden, many fans say to one another to 'watch the clone wars' it'll fix Anakin's character, or fix Hayden's acting. I'm here to point out from my view (that the Jedi are evil) that Hayden DID indeed play Anakin perfectly, the way he was supposed to be played.

When Kenobi comes out, if I see anyone dogging on Hayden's performance, believe me i'm going innnnnnnn!!!!!

Hayden did the best with what he was given. Dude is a really good actor. Matt’s “Anakin” was super fleshed out over a large amount of time. Hayden’s “Anakin” scenes were small, but the most monumental parts in Anakin life! I love both versions to create one “Anakin”.

As I have become older and wiser, Hayden’s portrayal of Anakin only becomes more perfect. He depicts inner confrontation/ confusion superbly

Anakin and Luke were both “whiny” at certain points. But not in a negative way. I see that it had to do with their ambition. It’s just one part of their characters that contributed to their overall character archs. Hayden is the man!

I've never understood why people hate on Hayden's portrayal, I love it! Anakin in the prequels and in TCW is the same person, the difference is that in TCW we see him on daily basis, while in the prequels there are shown the most tragic parts of his life

I love Matt Lanter and Hayden Christensen’s portrayals is Anakin. I think they both did excellent jobs.

I never saw Anakin whiney. In AOTC, I see Obi Wan has a real hard time teaching Anakin. Anakin is always seen cleaning up Obi Wan's messes, like pursuing Zam.

Wish we saw more of that ROTS cutscene, Obi Wan saying Anakin, "You have much to learn" and Anakin proving him wrong.

Hayden Christiansen is a perfectly serviceable actor. The scenes where he says absolutely nothing are incredible. Man can act.

I love both versions. It totally made sense to me why TCW Anakin was a little more "human" than Hayden's portrayal and it boils down to screen time. There was simply more opportunity/time to show all facets of his personality. In the prequels, there were times when we got glimpses of TCW Ani, and vice versa. One of my favorite examples of Hayden's Anakin showing up in TCW was when he beat the crap out of Clovis.

Crazy that I never disliked the prequels or Hayden's Anakin, I always thought Anakin was so cool especially in RotS, after all these years I've finally started watching Clone Wars and damn Anakin in the clone wars is amazing but of course he's gonna be more fleshed out in Clone Wars since they have A LOT of time to use Anakin unlike the movies (these replies jesus... forgot star wars fans can be so extra when it comes to opinions lmao)

I feel like Matt’s and Hayden’s interpretations both excelled at representing different aspects of anakins character. Matt portrayed the youthful, cocky, sometimes arrogant, but overall caring and loving aspects of his character, which really make his fall to the dark side even more tragic. Hayden really grasped the aspect of the tortured soul, the boy who never really freed himself from his past, his failures to be strong enough, and his anger at himself and those he feels don’t understand him. They feel like two halves of a whole to me, so I love them both.

I 100% agree! Hayden did a phenomenal job portraying Anakin Skywalker, he didn’t deserve the hate he received. With that being said, super excited to see him in the Kenobi Show!

That's why I love your way of explaining things..
Especially when it comes to Anakin Skywalker, whether it's Clonewars or Movie version, same Guy..
Different time periods of Anakin's life, there should not be a comparison between the two..
Kudos to both to bringing Anakin Skywalker to our hearts and imagination.
Edit: I've always appreciated Hayden Christensen as Anakin, and am Super Sith Stoked for
Him as Vader in the KENOBI Series

Personally, I see no difference between Matt and Hayden’s Anakin. They’re the same character and both are perfect in my opinion, and there is no deciding who is better. Honestly, I think it’s a little unfair to compare them because Hayden portrayed him during the darkest and biggest turning points in his life, while Matt played the more happy and day to day Anakin since he was with Padmé, Ahsoka, and Obi-Wan. So obviously he will act differently in those stages of his life.

As someone with severe OCD (I also have other conditions, as well), I get what Anakin is going through. I also went through some tough times in my life, and I know what it feels like for someone to not get or understand, or not listen to you. I also hate it when people say to stop worrying. It absolutely makes things worse. I always felt connected to Anakin, and this is one of the reasons why I love him so much. Thanks for saying what you did about Hayden's Anakin! People needed to hear this. You explained it perfectly! Growing up, Hayden was, and still is one of my favorite actors of all time! He never should have gotten the hate from those toxic Star Wars "fans."

I think it’s unfair to compare Matt and Haydens’ Anakins. At the end of the day it’s the same character. Although I think the dialogue in Attack of the Clones could have been better, Anakin was a kid. It’s a perfect portrayal of the character. Hayden is fantastic as Anakin, and Matt is good too.

I fully agree Theory, you hit the nail on the head. I've voiced these exact sentiments to people myself in the past.

Anakin is not faultless, but the men and women who were supposed to be his "family" never truly helped him achieve what he could have, as the Chosen One.

Hayden is Anakin! His delivery with every line (as corny as they may be at times) really brings out the poetry that George wanted to implement into his space fantasy.

Anakin is my favorite fictional character and I 100% agree with you but I feel like far less people hate on Hayden now. I always loved the prequels more than the originals and I am happy the popular opinion on them has changed. I think most of that is thanks to people who grew up loving them being adults and the majority fan base now. Great video as always, sir.

I think Qui-Gon would have prevented Anakin's fall to the dark side, he might have been the only one besides maybe Yoda. When Qui-Gon died, Anakin was almost destined to become Sith. No one was there to provide appropriate mentorship. Obi-Wan gave him a sense brotherhood and taught him the Jedi ways, but he wasn't the father figure Anakin needed.

I didn't see it as Anakin being whiney, I saw it more that he questioning things, and told off as he was young and not fully attuned with the force and that we will get to that later. Also all those jedi (behind his back in a way) spoke of him as the choosen one creates alot of stress and alot to live up to. with all that ofcourse one will have some anxiety.
