Kalie from ExpatsEverywhere sits down with Jime, an expat from Argentina who has moved to Portugal. She and her husband didn't choose Lisbon or Porto though. They decided to be in a smaller town along the water on the Silver Coast. The town is called Espinho and just south of Porto. Is it too small though? Will someone get bored in a small town? What about the weather? Jime reveals the truth about life in a small town in Portugal.

I absolutely loved this interview. Kalie was so spot on with her questions and manner, and Jime was delightful to listen to. Her responses were thoughtful and had depth. Both were easy to listen to and informative. This is one of my most favorite expatseverywhere videos. Great job!

Espinho is a beach with a lot of teenage memories for me...
Because the train station are so close to the main beach and city center with everything we might need, its the most famous beach - town of the Porto area for generations.

Perfect to teenage groups or young adults that dont own a car.
Until i have my first car, Espinho was the way for everyone i grow up with, and i am from north-east porto town....

Kalie, I've said this before... you are such a great interviewer!! Great chat. I 100% agree with smaller towns, and language, and what she said about the Portuguese not owing us (non-Portuguese) anything. I want to become fairly fluent eventually and it won't likely happen if I only speak English. Jime was a great guest. I do like when you interview other immigrants.

This is a GREAT interview, Kalie! I was super excited because it's ESPINHO that you're talking about!!! Our neighbors and best friends from the mountains of Virginia USA moved to Espinho and they LOVE it!!! We've visited and can't WAIT to return. A GREAT little city in Portugal with NO cruise ships in sight! (YAY)

Thanks! Another great in-depth video revealing the many aspects of expat-ing to Portugal that are not discussed anywhere else. What a fantastic guest! I thought she shared many interesting points. & Kaylee was sharp with her questions.
I appreciate this unique info as we are planning a move ourselves.

ALSO I just want to say it takes a lot of time and effort for Josh & Kaylee to generate these videos and share great content that help us so much. We all subscribe to so many things I just think if you have not already send some thanks$$ from time to time 😀

I spent a month in Espinho in January of 2022. Lots of rain, the apartment I rented was cold, the waves were fierce in the Winter (dangerous) and not much happening socially. Affordability is definitely much better than Porto or Lisbon. If you like a quieter pace, it’s a lovely place to be, especially in the warmer dryer months of the year. I was their last March and it was way more pleasant.

Hi Jime and Kalie. I loved the interview. Myself and my 2 daughters moved to Portugal, from the US in Nov 2022. We live in Espinho too and love it. We plan to stay here. I hope to see you around. Love the shots of Espinho! My younger daughter worked at 37 Na Praia this past summer and Patinho is a regular hang for us - best pingo in town. Winter is almost over😘😘. Anne

Olá! Thank you for an excellent video. We are retired American educators in Europe now after helping a new school open in Lviv. We stayed in Krakow for 6 weeks and in Tallinn for one month. We plan on returning to Europe in the fall, exploring Portugal and possibly our next home location. This area has amazing towns, beaches, and boardwalks. We love a walkable and accessible city. Healthcare, transportation, safety, and reliability are our concerns. Obrigado!! Dean & Cindy
