I've been hanging onto my 8+ despite needed a better phone for the last year or so, because I had heard rumors of a major camera upgrade coming this year. I am glad I waited. 15pro max will be my new iphone. Hey I got 11 years out of my last MB Pro before finally replacing last last year. Yes, the difference is stunning!

Only just switched over to the iPhone this past Christmas, and it was to a 13 Pro, which I chose over a 14/14 Plus (14 Pro was just too expensive, and the faster refresh rate was a must have for me). Glad Apple's finally making the switch to USB-C across all their devices, but I'll probably wait till the 16 or 17 Pro to upgrade since I literally just got my 13 Pro half a year ago

I'm upgrading only for the USB-C upgrade. I'm so tired of having to maintain Lightning for iPhone and USB-C for everything else. Honorable mention is this action button: but I want a feature to toggle Focus mode on/off. That's it.

I’m on a 12 Pro Max and I think the 15 pro max definitely has enough upgrades for me, as it’ll have all you mentioned plus dynamic island and always on display etc. 3 year cycle seems to be the sweet spot for upgrades now, where as I used to upgrade every 2 years on the S models, remember those!!

I currently own an Apple iPhone 11 Pro model (which I happen to really like) and what I think is that every reason you gave to upgrade is valid except for the mute 'button'. I always have the uncanny ability to inadvertently activate any and every button there is (whilst in the trouser pocket or otherwise) even the mute 'switch' will move to the mute position when you drop the phone from waist height onto the floor 'lens down'! I can see a 'button' being nothing shy of a complete pain in the ass, and a really good reason for me not to upgrade!.

I have been using MacBook Pro and iPad Air for 3 years now, but have been holding on to a Samsung S22, precisely because of type C. This move of the iPhone to USB-C is gonna make a lot of Android users like me switch. Never own an iPhone before so this is pretty exciting!!!

The design seems extremely similar to the 14 series and the periscope is only coming to the Pro Max, which is said to be getting a price increase. Would people upgrade for a new mute button? That’s hard to imagine.

So far, nothing seems compelling enough to justify the cost of an upgrade.

In your video on why you should upgrade to the iPhone 15 you showed a cutaway of the periscope lens camera. I have been a jet engine mechanic forty years with the airlines. We use professional grade digital video scopes to inspect the engines. Using prisms in the phone could be a week point on the camera. On the insertion tubes we use to transverse through the engine to see sideways there is a prisms for the camera. Any bumping, dropping. Hitting of the prism lens tip will cause it to go out of alignment and provide you with a blurry image.
