One of the best scenes in television history. Beautifully executed.

1:39 Sound guy running in like that is a nice touch that amplifies immersion for those who worked in the sector.

"So, fuel increases reactivity. Control rods and water reduce it. Steam increases it, the rise in temperature reduces it. This is the invisible dance that powers whole cities without smoke or flame, and it is beautiful, when things are normal."

"We would if not for this"

This is my favorite scene in the entire film. There was so much amazing scriptwriting and acting throughout the show, but at 00:12, when the camera sways out of sync with Valeri's steps, makes you feel the nausea that he would have been experiencing as he prepared to testify, thats when this show became legendary to me

The fact alone that something like Nuclear Power becomes more Reactive when it's colder, and less Reactive when it's hotter.
Completely the other way around than anyone would expect.

"Why would you want to lower the power?"

only thing inaccurate was when he said the reactor was now a nuclear bomb. there was nothing nuclear about the explosion, it was a thermal/pressure dynamite kinda explosion...i know, very science sounding by me. regardless, this whole series was a masterpiece which I watched three times all the way through!
