He described me as a kid. I thought Islam was tough and bitter because of all the rules and the ritual practices like Memorizing Quran/Prayers/Fasting. But as I grew older I was able to immerse myself in the spiritual understanding of it, which made everything easier. Now practicing Islam takes no effort, it’s like a knife through butter for me, a 2nd nature if you will.

You need both, brothers and sisters. The knowledge and the soul!

The misconception of haram and halal among muslims is a real thing. The speech was spot on.

I’m not Muslim, nor in any way religious, but from what I’ve learned from friends of mine this is what Islam means to people. Too often people in the west attribute it to repression, when it’s all about Soul.

What a beautiful metaphor. Im not religious, but this is a great eye-opener into understanding faith and islam

This was always my favorite scene from the show so to see it appear randomly in my feed makes me so happy😌

Born a Catholic. Strayed from the path. Relearning my way to my own faith and what it means to me. My man Ali is spitting straight facts. It’s so easy to judge a faith on its worst aspects. Takes hard work to find what really matters. Get to the core though? You will be rewarded in the sun.

Magnificent. Wish the audio were a little better, but it's wonderful, both substantially and visually. "Nothing in and of itself is haram. It's a matter of how we choose to engage with it." The "orange" metaphor is brilliant.

Beautiful explained...dogs aren't haram. However:
-keeping them inside the home
-keeping them without a purpose
That is the haram part about it. If u keep a dog outside the house as a guard dog or a livestock dog/shepherd there is no problem. Or for hunting if u are on part of the world u might need a hunting dog. Just keep a cat if u must guys!🤗

Ramy is an orthodox muslim, confined by concrete concepts. The teacher is a spiritual muslim, awoken from illusion.

The irony, Alcohol is an Arabic word, the first who distilled and extracted alcohol for medical use were Muslims, and Orhan Pamuk wrote about the dog in Quran, criticizing the new trend of conservative Muslims who speak non-sense, I recommend his book "My Name Is Red" a very interesting book actually.

“Alcohol is not Haram, drinking it is”.

Lil bit corny at first, I think Mahershala could have done with a dialect coach to help with pronunciation of words, but quite profound at the end, hats off to the writers.

If he is indeed with Al Ahmadiya, then he is not a muslim. Because they believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is a prophet after the prophet Muhammed pbuh.

The prophet pbuh said: "And I am the last of the Prophets, there is no Prophet after me."
