I disagree with the "full consent" thing. Yes, I am willingly and voluntarily going to therapy to get cured. But that doesn't mean the therapist can do whatever they want for treatment. I was actually retraumatized by multiple therapists because they pushed too far in the treatment when I wasn't ready. I told one of them that the treatment is making me feel horrible in a bad way and I didn't wanna continue. I told him many times. But he kept pushing because he believed it was necessary for my healing. It went horribly. So bad that I was too afraid to talk to anyone for so long, let alone seek help again.

I don't think that is true. When someone is constantly exposed to images of what they deem as unsafe, their vagal system is activated and they go into fight or flight. The trauma is relived and can push them to completely shutdown, constant exposure to this can cause the system to always believe it is in an unsafe environment and as a result the social engagement section of the autonomic system is constantly unavailable. When a patient doesn't feel safe how can they heal from it? It doesn't make sense.
