Fast, don't fast, intermittent fast, multi-day fast, fasting is good, fasting is bad, some fasting is okay. Keto, don't keto, eat fats, don't eat fats, eat fruit, avoid fruit, wine is good, alcohol is bad, ugh. All these doctors with different studies, perspectives and opinions. Same with keto. IDK, seems like the only common agreement is don't eat processed foods or refined sugar. So, that's a good place to start. I appreciate the education and information.

I am born & raised Swiss and living in Canada for 25 years. The food system and entire eating culture is so vastly different. Not easy here

Oddly enough, one way to reduce fatty liver may be to eat more butter, so long as it comes from pasture raised cows. I don't know of any American brands of butter from pasture raised cows, but Irish butter and New Zealand butter usually is. Why does pasture raised butter matter? Only pasture raised butter contains C15, a long chain fatty acid, which seems to cause an improvement in liver function. I and a friend experimented with it. After two months of C15 supplementation, my AST, ALT, and alkaline phosphatase dropped significantly (22, 31, 66) to (13, 22, 57). My friend had ALT drop from 63 to 22 in a month, and AST went from 38 to 27. Alkaline phosphatase was also down, but I don't have numbers.

Lucerne, nice place.
Very funny. I'm Swiss and have been living in Asia for some years now. In Switzerland you can go shopping everyday until 10pm. And when they do their weekly shopping you need hours in the shopping centre cause it's packed and shopping on Saturday is like an event.
There are tonnes of food offered of whatever you like you have the choice within more than just two or three. In Switzerland it's all about consuming. I'm well educated and the people I know have good jobs and have a wealthy lifestyle. But the older they get the more fat they get. And diabetes. Alcohol is consumed on a daily basis either as a happy hour as a reward for a long working day or two, three glasses of wine for dinner. There is no dining with friends or family without alcohol. Meanwhile I can't eat processed or convenient food from Switzerland anymore as it tastes too salty and my favourite chocolate too sweet. The longevity is because they have money to pay for all the medication and medical treatments. That's why. But it's nice you had such a positive impression from your holiday.

Great videos, Doc. You are my new guru of nutrition. I’m a big meat eater, so I was eager to test the keto world in a ‘confirmation bias’ kind of way. I quickly lost weight, bias confirmed. Then my LDL was rising too fast, now every path had a dead end. It takes time and effort to realize that food in crunchy flavor bags and instant just add water boxes, is not food. It’s scientifically engineered, “over-the-top, ” highly addictive, tastebud ticklers that does nothing for your health. If you are going to change from dramatic flavor science to real foods, it’s tough. Learning to use spices has become my own path to kitchen science and real food flavors. Cooking takes time, but it’s very rewarding, and it burns calories.

I’m about to watch your video, I always love watching them, but I recently started watching Dr Boz, and she has a video on what she believes causes calcification in the arteries. It was because of a bloodwork that was done on a man for 14 years. It’s so confusing basically it sounds like she’s saying it comes from sugar even eating fruit. I have this genetics in my family where we get calcification buildup, so this makes me so confused if I should eat fruit or not eat fruit🤔 now I’m gonna enjoy your wonderful videos. Thank you for what you do.🤗

I didn’t think my whole grain bread didn’t have sugar. Dr Liu was correct the third ingredient was organic cane sugar, how disappointing.
