YES! It takes me 5-7 days to shoot one recipe video from start to finish (planning, testing, filming, editing, food photos, etc.)... It’s not easy work, which is why u have to do it because you love it not for money. Great tips!

In regard of the focus, I don't think that YouTubers that do not have a specific type of content and are successful are an exception because they actually have a focus and the focus is THEMSELVES!!! They usually have explosive or charismatic personalities so they could do and say anything, people will follow them because they're brilliant, authentic, etc.. They really don't need a topic in particular. They're the "product".

No complaints from me. I'm old enough to be your dad. I have children of my own. My wife and I are just starting our Youtube adventure. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I miss when youtube was just people using their laptop camera and editing in microsoft movie maker.

I found the most valuable point being "YouTube is a long game." When I first started I was intimated and frustrated my videos weren't performing as well as some other creators, I'm still relatively new - this is my second full month posting and consistency and playing the long game have already shown me some success! I post music reviews, songwriting advice, and sing originals and cover songs - thanks again for all these great tips!!!

The tip that I follow that you mentioned is that I look for popular topics in my niche, but I don't watch the other creators videos before hand because I want it to be my take on the subject (original).

I have a new YT channel where I talk about advanced medical aesthetics, Q&As and life... I’ve made most of these mistakes, especially the long intro. Guilty!
Thanks for this video! It was very helpful. 😊

Thanks for the advice! I had a goal of hitting 1k subs by May. Well, it's May and I'm currently at just over 600. So I didn't reach my goal, but what I realized along the way is how important it is to enjoy the process and make content that you are proud of. I'm definitely doing that, and as long as I'm enjoying it, I'll continue to do it. Anyways, great vid! Thx <3

"Every rule has exceptions" would be the only rule that doesn't have any exceptions. Great video, Gillian.

This is the first video I've seen that called out the 'double title' thing - a mistake I'm personally guilty of with some of my videos. Lots to learn on this journey, and I'm happy to have learned something here. Keep it up, Gillian!

The biggest problem for me is when folks play music and speak - all at same level. I simply can NOT hear anything but noise .. Also, as Im 156 cm tall, my daily life is to look UP .. into peoples noses, not a pleasant sight. Many youtubers set their camera so we see right into their nostils, DONT ! It is the eyes we want to see. TY Gillian, very clear video :)
