Woodturning - Making Celtic Knots on a Table Saw

When it comes to segmented work, one of the most interesting patterns for me is the Celtic Knot. Essentially it consists of two or more rings which are positioned at an angle. The rings are slices of wood which are glued onto a blank of wood after it has been cut at the desired angle. In this video I'm showing my process for glueing a blank together. This requires the use of a simple jig (which I'm also showing) in order to keep everything together while the glue dries. To set the starting point of the cut, I used the stop on my tablesaw. The angle was set by tilting the sawblade, in this case to 40 degrees. Since I don't have one, a planer or other fancy equipment wasn't used; just the tablesaw.
If there is a how-to video on my channel then it is probably this one. This week I'm showing you how I made the blank. Next time I will show the box that I made from it.
Let me know what you think!

Ha! Cliffhanger ending! Very dramatic! Your clamping jig is terrific, so simple but very effective. Cheers Leo, I'm looking forward to the next part.

Looks like it should look great when you get it finished. I hate it when I loose footage. I had an SD card act up the other day but I kept at it and found the file I really needed. It had gotten crossed up with another so it looked horrible but I was able to repair it.
Looking forward to seeing you finish this piece.

Hi Leo, Great video. Learned a lot of new techniques on this one. Double sided tape!!! One of those moments when you think Why didn't I think of that.
Your glue up jig as well looks fantastic, and as Mark said so simple but so effective.
I was surprised to see you not clamp along the length of the blank though.
Really looking forward to part 2.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
