Making a credit card Celtic knot pen

Watch as I upcycle a credit card into an awesome pen with a Celtic knot in a nice piece of walnut. Laugh at my suffering as I learn a painful (emotionally) lesson and have to start over with a tiny bit of newly earned wisdom.

This is a nice job. One tip that helped me a lot is to put wax paper under the blank when you’re doing glue ups. You get no sticking that way.

Also, when drilling the first one you didn't use a pecking action to clear the swarf out of the flutes. My guess is that the plastic swarf overheated and glued the drill to the wood. Possibly, the drill you are using claims you don't have to peck, but I think it's wise with such a fragile workpiece.

Very nice. What kit did you use for this pen? Thanks for sharing.

What a stunningly gorgeous pen!! I love it! Thanks for sharing. What angle did you cut to make your Celtic knot?

Nice pen. I noticed that the knot doesn’t meet in a few places. If you use a stop block when cutting each angle cut then the knots will align better.

Thanks
Peter
