Woodturning Mahogany Candle Sticks With A Celtic Knot

Someone once told me "It's easy making a candle stick, the trick is making the second like the first", he was right of course, but I had to give it a go, and why not throw in a Celtic knot into the mix?

Well done Yuval!!  I love the candle stick design, the Celtic knot turned out pretty good mate, you tackled the knot a little different to how I made mine, I cut right through the wood at my chosen angle then applied the glue to both sides of the insert and both ends of the stock. I cut , glued and clamped one section a day and repeated until all sides were done then mounted it up on the lathe. I did make  a proto type to begin with to see how it would all work, I soon found that I needed to get a couple more clamps because the stresses that are applied when you clamp up tended to push the "glue up" in different directions. It was all a big learning curve  and at times found it frustrating,   but when the second one I made looked OK,   old Bram was a happy  chappie  lol.  Great video mate, Thanks for sharing, cheers for now,    Bram

Great job on the Celtic knots, I fully understand how you feel about segmenting, I haven't done too much of it either for the same reason.

Brilliant work Yuval, they both look excellent, love the shape you decided on. The glue up, apart from those couple of areas you mentioned, went very well - considering it's your first attempt. I really must have a go at this Celtic Knot, I just seem to keep putting it off :)
