I am surprised you didn’t mention CDs. I put a lot of money away for multiple CDs. As the interest keep rising and specially after today’s rate hike, Fed wants inflation to come down to 2%, we are gonna see interest rates go up. This rate hikes keep increasing CD rates. I am all for buying 3 month/ monthly CDs and even some money for longer term, 1 year CD. Still better than a lot of high yield savings account. A lot of people do, CD ladders for emergency savings/ long term savings and now it all makes sense to me why they do it.

I feel so proud doing it, like literally my money is making money. Something a rock wealthy smart person would do.

I’m definitely going to take advantage of the new higher savings account yields - I saw that BrioDirect was offering 3.75% for their high yield savings account, so I’m moving my emergency fund into that. I also bought a 2nd house recently with 5.75%, and I’d like to buy another next year, so I’m keeping a lot of cash on hand. The rest of my money I’m just investing into a total US market index in my 401k, and a dividend ETF in my brokerage. Also throwing a bit into crypto. All of this is DCA.

That was a really good video Humphrey. Sound advice for 'just an average investor.' I'm personally taking advantage of this environment to continue to buy equities that are in my portfolio and undervalued. I'm not looking for a moon shot of course. Also, after having to use my emergency fund for a family emergency just over a month ago, I started to formulate an exit plan for all of my investments in rare case I had to divest. I never had such a plan in the past.

What do you think about Berkshire Hathaway (B stock) as a longer term investment? I have VOO for my Roth, so I wanted to do more with my standard account and was thinking this maybe a pretty safe bet. Seems to perform as well, if not better than many of the indexes.

I might look into 3 month bonds. I don’t see us buying a condo here in San Diego just yet.

Confused why by stocks, let’s say 1000 shares of J.P. Morgan to get 2.9% dividend when I can pay that same amount of money and put it into a 4 to 7 month bond at 4.5%?

I believe interest rates are going to 10%. iBond will be best investment.Buying home would be extremely risky due to higher cost of money (higher interest rates) & historically high asking prices.

Get Robinhood gold. It’s a 3.75% return on brokerage cash held in the account.
