George Benson (born March 22, 1943) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He began his professional career at the age of 21 as a jazz guitarist. Benson uses a rest-stroke picking technique similar to that of gypsy jazz players such as Django Reinhardt.
A former child prodigy, Benson first came to prominence in the 1960s, playing soul jazz with Jack McDuff and others. He then launched a successful solo career, alternating between jazz, pop, R&B singing, and scat singing. His album Breezin' was certified triple-platinum, hitting no. 1 on the Billboard album chart in 1976.His concerts were well attended through the 1980s, and he still has a large following.[4] Benson has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

As a serious guitarist for forty years, let me say George’s singing and songwriting were fantastic, his unbelievably phenomenal guitar playing was secondary. True genius.

Heard this back in 1979 and could never find the 12”. Told my friends George Benson has a funky break (8:30 onwards) on his song! Never found it until recently! Lol

Broadway is the only road to success. A lifetime adventure you will endure until you retire if you make it.

I'm sort of a hard rock lady, but I remember this song from when I was a little kid in '78. I loved it then and I love it now.

It has always amazed me...I mean friggin amazed me that GB could sing the notes he was playing while riffing on the guitar. I play an instrument and that is really hard.

No pedals, no big hair, no theatrics, no B, .S. just some great chops, suerb singing, groovy rhythm, on the pocket group. What's not to like.! One of the greats, in any style!
