#Phalaenopsisorchids #Houseplants #Update
If I were to tell you that SACRIFICING SPIKES for the HEALTH of the orchid, any orchid... would you believe me? It is not easy to take off spikes from any orchid that you so desperately want to see bloom again. I did... 13 in total during the winter of 2019. I wanted struggling #Phalaenopsis in my collection to regain energy and focus on growing roots into the leca, and putting all their energy into growing strong and big leaves. This update is a window into what the result of my sacrifice is.
I really appreciate the fact that you took the time to watch my video. I am very open to any comments or questions, this video may have brought up. Those phals look so lush and green. Such big leaves for them all. I can't handle those I don't have the room for them. Looking forward to seeing them in spike and bloom. Enjoy them and have a real great day.

Yay! Thatโ€™s great that all those phals are growing better this season! Gotta love it when you see positive signs that all your efforts are working ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽ‰

Hi Nina! ๐Ÿ˜‡๐ŸŒบ stupendous growing!!! I'm so happy for you. Im still working at the correct recipe. I have about 8 now (all complex hybrid, no ID) and none have bloomed in my care yet. I got one for my birthday in April that is still blooming. Yay! I think the older ones are coming around, they've grown a couple leaves and some roots. All but 2 are in semi hydro. All in all, I think they are doing well so it's just a matter of time. Have a great evening my orchid friend!

They are so beautiful and I love your excitement! ๐Ÿ˜Š Your ariel roots are so plump and healthy. The ones I have are always thin and crinkly no matter how much I spray them.

Phals are so strange, I have been so close to chuck two of mine out, since they wouldn't grow roots. Guess what both are doing now after year or so... ๐Ÿ˜„

Well done with yours, nice to see progress! ๐Ÿ‘

I love this. I selfishly kept the spike on one of my overspent oncidiums. The bulbs are shriveling and it's telling me I'm a bad mom. I will be really nice after it blooms and not do that again to my poor onci.

I really like the Phalaenopsis Blume orchid. But I grow it very hard to grow.

I'm lousy with hybrid phals but now I got three that seem to be doing fine. Cut the spikes on them August 18th with the few flowers that was left. Now I have double spikes on all three! Got the tip from you and wanted them to grow roots and leafs. But they chose to spike. I live in Sweden and I had them outside so they got some colder nights.

Question: what can i do with areal roots that are very long and bent over the pot and split, leave them like that or cut them off, they have no green tip on them.

You only get one leaf in a season? I get three or four if I remember, or am not too busy, to feed them. I'm not trying to brag, I'm admittedly not a good Phal grower, it just seems like you should be getting a lot more vegetative growth in your climate.
