Nvidia Share/Shadowplay Recording Benchmarks - How Much Performance or FPS Do You Lose With NVENC?

Показать описание
In this video we investigate the performance impacts one can experience when using Nvidia’s Shadowplay/share recording software. As with any sort of recording method you’re going to have to endure a performance hit to your fps as its more resource heavy on your gaming pc. However Nvidia claims that with share and their hardware built-in NVENC encoder that the performance hit is very small. So we put that to the test and see how much performance do you really lose.

Just the video I was looking for. I play BF2042 and with shadow play on I lose around 10 fps. With OBS NDI I lose around 20fps. I'm looking at getting a capture card (dual PC setup)and I am hoping there will be no frames lost. Great video!

Great video! Another interesting point would be to compare the input lag between the different options, cheers !

pretty useful video. As I expected shadowplay is the best option unless you can afford a super high end dual PC setup.

Great information, thank you!
Instant replay is pretty neat feature, thankfully it does not hurt fps!

I today test doom eternal.
With shadowplay 390fps.
Without 440..
Rainbow six extraction.
With 260fps
Without 290

Of corset with a 3090 there's little performance lost try with 2060 super it's bad

I am heavily interested in how much input lag there is with instant replay? anybody know any sources that have spoken of this?

Nice, so basically no difference and can capture amazing moments

The thing that bothers me so much is the bug that has instant replay record your other monitor. It pisses me off

Ahhhh the age old Battle...

Do people prefer Nvenc or X264. And at what bitrate, does the user prefer.

so annoying tha intant replay records at whatever the system volume is set at, it casues different volume levels on all my recording as i dont have the same system volume set all the time...

I’m sure benchmarking with a cpu that has a lower core count would show bigger differences

this is odd, i was just checking task manager and noticed with no games running my GPU was idling at 40% useage,
and it turns out shadowplay was the culprit, so to see such a minor performance impact is interesting
when its hogging 40% of the GPU even while my PC is idling.

When the desktop recording is enabled it spikes to 14.5% GPU usage on my 3080. Is that normal?

if you were to record in 1440 and play in 1440 wouldnt you get better Frames since your encoder doesnt have to upscale ?

My specs are
-AMD Ryzen 7 5700
-16 gb memory
-NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 will it be good enough to use to record every gameplay even warzone?
