Cassini's Infrared Saturn

The Cassini-Huygens mission arrived at Saturn in 2004, beginning an epic thirteen-year tour of the ringed planet and its many moons. Cassini and its companion probe, Huygens, were an international collaboration between NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA). Cassini carried an impressive array of scientific instruments, including the Composite Infrared Spectrometer (CIRS) built at Goddard Space Flight Center. By studying the Saturn system in heat radiation, CIRS observed hot spots in a giant Saturn storm, discovered a new hydrocarbon in Titan's smoggy atmosphere, found unexpected surface heating on Mimas and Tethys, and even detected evidence of a liquid water ocean under the icy shell of Enceladus. This video explores Cassini CIRS' Greatest Hits, as told by instrument team members Michael Flasar, Conor Nixon, and Carrie Anderson.

A salute to this endeavour, to the science and to the spirit of mankind that pushes forward through untraversed frontiers in this seemingly unending quest of discoveries that LIFE is.

Absolutely incredible.
Hats off to all concerned and many thanks for all of this free information.

What a mission!
It's strange to have feeling for a machine. Great job Cassini and the team behind.

I can't wait to see those final images of Cassini's voyage.

I am so glad that we are discovering so many new things about the universe we live in. We are living in interesting times.

It blows my mind how smart these people at NASA are.

Gotta say, that this was a solidly produced video! - _And I learned something new regarding Mimas and Tethys._ :)

"This is the 6th one seen since 1876"
Goes to show for how long we've been "advanced" for but from now on out imagine the data. In 10, 000 years they'll be able to quote data from our time and 10, 000 years is nothing but a blink in time. 100, 000 yrs, 1 million. Still relatively young compared to geology but hopefully us humans persist that long and keep knowledge through all of those years

Amazing . Goodbye Cassini. NASA deserve way better budget :(.I wish we hunt space more than our self.

I really want to see future missions end with the crafts in permanent orbits, patiently waiting for humans to come.

It was only fitting that they allowed Cassini to burn up in Saturns atmosphere. Cassini mission may have ceased, but it is finally part of the Saturn system. <3

Is it the pattern of movements within the universe?
*Moons* move around the planets.
*Planets* move around the stars.
*Stars* move around the galaxies (black holes).
*Dwarf galaxies* move around the big galaxies as clusters.
*Clusters* move around superclusters.
*Superclusters* move around within the universe?
*Universe* moves around what?
There are so much much much *round objects* within the universe 😎 😍 🙄

Imagine how much we could learn if we could physically go there with a ship and a small team of 20-30 people to stay there for let's say 5 years? In that time they could learn so much

I wish you would publish the actual images with the same effort as "artists impressions" - and CLEARLY mark which is which.

por que no traen devuelta la misión ala tierra ?? podría traer mas información a bordo ¡¡ por que la destruyen en la atmósfera del saturno ??

If Nokia 3310 was aboard Cassini, Saturn would've been gone.
