I named my dog Cassini. He has no clue about WTF is going to happen. I don't want to upset him.

Why am I feeling emotionally attached to this spacecraft...?? It's not like I can empathise with a hunk of metal... But I do

I worked at JPL 1974-1986, and remember the series of four spacecraft planned for thenext step. JOP (Jupiter Orbiter and Probe) became Galileo. And SOP (Saturn Orbiter and Prone) eventually...took a long time thanks to budget cuts....Cassini. The Uranus and Neptune missions probably will remain a dream for years to come.

So right now at 0808, is time linear for where the spacecraft is currently orbiting?

I'm prepared to say goodbye to Cassini. Without tears in my eyes, of course.

*_Crying inside but extremely proud but still crying in joy_*

I bet the data will be fascinating, once it's made sense of. Farewell, Cassini.

I love doing that in KSP over Jool. It feels so epic, like sending your brave cosmic wanderer off onto some grand viking funeral pyre. It also helps that you can collect science all the way till the end.

He died the way he lived... Scienceing.

Saturn looks like it would sound like a big tennis ball if you were to bounce it (GURK GURK GURK)

Simply amazing achievement by NASA! Whatever happened to the Russian space program?

If Cassini intentionally crashed into one of Saturn's moons and contaminated it, would headlines read "NASA launches Attack On Titan"?

Very interesting. I suppose we forget how amazing these pictures etc. are in our information overload world.
