2:15 Well, I would say that a majority of shark or crocodile attacks in general happen during daytime, as not many people go swimming during nighttime (especially not in places such as Egypt or Australia, where one is especially prone to animal attacks in general). Egypt and Australia are around 8 time zones apart, meaning that it is nighttime in Egypt when it is noon in Australia, and vice versa. With this information in mind, I would think that if it is probable that a shark attack were to happen in Egypt, it would be improbable that a croc attack would happen in Australia because it would be nighttime and fewer people would be swimming. The same applies in reverse; probable croc attack in Australia --> improbable shark attack in Egypt.

TL;DR: Not very independent if you ask me

I dont knw why professors cant explain concepts like this, with the use of real life examples. I was struggling for days without being able to understand this. I saw you Video i am i feel like this is so easy.. Thank you..

I could keep up watching this at 1.5 times the normal speed. He actually explained pretty well, a 90minute lecture I had today. Begs the question, what is the real point of lecturers. Why not put a big screen there and some kind of LDJ...(Lecture DJ)...

How did you find the expression of the joint PDF, Why did you choose that fuction?
Thank you so much!

Hey thanks for your video. How can it be less likely to have a croc attack in a longer timespan? At 3:22 you say that it is more likely to have an attack in the first year than in the second year. It does not make much sense. Attacks should be uniformly distributed over time.
Wouldn't it be more realistic to say that X and Y represent not getting an attack in the specified time. And therefore the probability of not having an attack in that time period is higher than when the time increases.
If you could clarify, it would be great. I fear you may kill tourism in those places for the next five years ;)
They also say that if there is one attack, the likelihood of having another attack shortly after increases, how would you model that?
Thanks.
