I just wanna point out… The Federation has so many doomsday weapons that it’s not even funny anymore.

They can send a genesis torpedo equipped with a defiant cloaking device and AI back in time to “restart” any enemy planet.

Section 31 officer: we’ve finally discovered The ancient Borg home world and know exactly when the technological shit hit the fan.

Admiral Lore: Broccoli! Fire the genesis doomsday device!

Starfleet ethics committee: actually, let’s slow your roll there for a second… Do we really have the right to metal in the temporal stream of a monstrous technologically superior robot zombie race that’s consumed entirely other sentient races numbering in the tens of thousands as well as has threatened our own territory and people? Who are we to decide the next course of evolution for this clear and present danger to all organic life in the galaxy?

Barkley: ... hell with this *presses button, launches device* I quit.... goin to join The Maquis or something.

The idea of TOS being cavalier with time travel is pretty similar to us and nuclear power in the 50s-80s
-“We have a technology that can create almost unlimited energy, or untold devastation. We must be careful.”
-“We’ll be careful, but just how big a boom do you think we can make with this?”
-“Not sure, let’s find out!”

In my headcanon, TOS is just a fun TV show that was made in the Federation around 2300 to dramatise their history. It's mainly based on real event, and uses 'perfect' cgi of the actual people, but takes a lot of liberties.

I was hoping for a clip from "Yesteryear" with the Guardian of Forever. :-)

I think the reason the crew were so nonchalant about the "time warp" in the episode "The Naked Time" is that such a thing is always a remote possibility when warping space (since space/time are related) it's just that the precise control of the phenomenon hadn't yet been mastered by the 23rd century.
Standing orders would be that if you find yourself in a timewarp, try to get out of it ASAP!

I've always wanted to know something about the nameless lost civilization, whose ruins the Guardian is sitting amongst in "City of the Edge of Forever." What was their deal? Who were they? How old were they? Did they have any connection to the Guardian?--Because the Guardian implies that he is much much older--and (we now know) can move.

This is a great distraction from the craziness of real life.
Good old fashioned nerdy goodness :-)

You are assuming that Starfleet didn't classify the means for traveling through time without time crystals, the same way the brass classified the events of "Control".

Honestly, I think the moment they canonized technology-based time travel (a random anomalay or a Q causing time travel is like an act of God, not something that could really be harnessed strategically long-term) Star Trek made it's biggest overall worldbuilding mistake. It just made suspension of disbelief for so many situations a LOT harder when time travel is a feasable part of the agency of characters who are supposed to be highly competent, because it causes situations where even a less-than-competent viewer can come up with far more effective solutions to any given problem, not to mention the competent viewers.
Anyway this has been my brief rant on a bad writing decision. Subscribe to Lore Reloaded and hit that like button.

Time travel was such an issue that Starfleet had a department of temporal investigations and a temporal prime directive in place by the late 24th century.

Kirt using the ship to go back in time with a crew of 400, How would you keep this from people? Its easy to do and there is little to no cost are risk in doing so, People dyeing stuff people want to undo, I do not see them being able to act like it was noting and have people treat it like it was nothing. Was there a cost/risk that ep i forgot?

I think that the civilization that built the Guardian of forever was the same civilization who when out into the galaxy and found no life and the crated the first building of the humans, romulans, kiligions, cardassians can't remember the name of the civilization by as the guardian said I been weighting for a question before your sun burn hot

Honestly I think they forgot the time related things they did with Voyager and TNG when they did the Enterprise crap, and further with discovery. After watching Voyager and seeing the timeship Relativity... and what they did... "fast forward" to enterprise and suddenly it looks like that? So confusing.

Commonplace is maybe a bit inaccurate, unless perhaps Discovery, which I haven't seen yet, is rewriting canon. According to Voyager they didn't have the timeships until the 24th century.
