George Washington? He only fought for the patriots because the British army refused to let him join. And he lost a lot more than he won and the ones he did win was mostly due to the help of the french

We should have lost but there was an angel on our shoulder. In a letter to Vladimir Putin before he invaded Ukraine I mentioned to him how our rag tag army defeated the greatest military force in the world. I told him if that same angel perches on the shoulder of the Ukrainian Army his aggression will come to nothing That seems to be happening.

over simplistic and not that good. in fact, there were more than 2 sides. . Many Natives, British and American and Canadian Loyalists (raised in Militia or Provincial units) and troops from Independent Gearman duchies or principalities were all aligned and had their own troops fighting for different reasons, but hoping for the same overall result each dressed differently and operated a bit differently and in many cases had their own goals . 4 sides right there. On the other you have American Revolutionaries (Rebels), Spain, and France with independent help from a varied numbers of professional soldiers of fortune. Again all had their own reasons and goals and objectives. dressed different and drilled different. Many operated totally separate from the others, especially Spain in Florida. the war had some 8 or 9 sides if not m more that were more or less grouped into 2 sides, but each had goals. for example, the Americans won their goal...but France was smashed. it lost its main fleet in 1782 and all but fell into bankruptcy which lead to the French Revolution and the overthrow of much of the royals who supported the revolutionaries. England lost 13 colonies, but little else and may have gained in power with the destruction of the French fleet. Canada gained many new citizens which would allow for it's growth and independence. in short there were more than 2 sides and more than 1 result. In the long term it was French Monarchy and Native tribes that really lost the most.
