If I’m not mistaken, Sukuna was using Mahoraga as sort of a reference for how to overcome Infinity. He observed how Mahoraga adapted throughout the fight, and eventually was able to find his own way to “adapt” to Infinity, by implementing the reality targeting property of the strong dismantle. Without Mahoraga’s example of how to adapt to Infinity, though Sukuna could’ve technically still come up with the strong dismantle on his own, I’d imagine it would’ve been incredibly difficult (not to mention he was only able to use the strong dismantle because Gojo was reveling in his supposed victory and didn’t notice Sukuna preparing the attack, Gojo’s victory being such an accomplishment worthy of Gojo’s attention because Gojo had managed to defeat Mahoraga and nearly take out Sukuna. Without Big Raga adding a lot more difficulty to the battle (and taking some of those Black Flashes) it might’ve been impossible to get Gojo into that state where he wasn’t quite paying attention).

Note : sukuna was at 19 fingers, mahoraga is said to be as powerful as 10 fingers and agito is said to be 1, so their combined strength was as powerful as 30 fingers.
