One of the craziest stories of black history in the outdoors I like to share is that before WWI the US army had segregated black soldiers test the possibility of using bikes as low-cost transport during wartime over long distances. The 25th Black Infantry Bicycle Corp demonstrated the use of pedal power by riding from Fort Missoula in Montana all the way to St Louis Missouri, a ride of almost 2000 miles before we even had modern roads let alone paved roads in the West! The endurance it must have taken to go all that way using only your legs must have been insane. If I were rich and didn't have to work, I'd probably take that ride just to know what it's like.

honestly i may not be on to anything who knows im just a kid but… i think racism would stop or at least be cut down if we stop talking about “black people who do this” or “people of color doing this” or “black lives matter” because in my opinion i think that that is just pushing us farther away from each other instead of bringing us closer which is our goal isn’t it
