WEIRD WAYS TO WEAR RUBBER BANDS WITH BRACES 👀🦷

Do you wear rubber bands with braces? Sometimes your orthodontist asks you to change up the pattern in which you wear them. Here are some common, but you might find weird, ways your ortho might ask you to wear your bands. Upside down triangles are for when we want to bring your top and bottom teeth closer together but we want more pull on the top teeth. Midline elastics are to line up your top and bottom midlines if they're off. Crossbite elastics are pretty common to correct posterior crossbites or when the top teeth are inside of the bottom teeth in the back. This is usually done when there's one tooth in crossbite and a palate expander can't be used to fix it.
