Have a look at a Garmin inreach alternative, then you can send SMS via satellite in addition to the emergency function. Handy to alert someone if your cant make an agreed time home and such to avoid unnecessary search and rescue calls. As a voluntary SAR in Norway, many of the missing people calls regarding hikers and hunters are because of agreed times not kept, or misunderstandings and they dont have cell signal or satellite comms to check on them.
