Sometimes with my ADHD I trip over my words and I am unable to articulate what I am thinking in a coherent way. Thank you for providing me with the tools to articulate these type of points. ☺️✌🏿♥️🙏🏿

I'm 40 and my stomach clenches because I'm one of the oldest by almost a decade trans people in the community we are building here in Charlotte. Weve gathered a lot of people.... The number of queer elders is spaarrrse. The number of trans autistic elders even more so and again looking for anyone Brown. We are looking and trying to bring together as many people as we can.

I see these kids in their 20s and they're great they've got a lot of stuff figured out I didn't figure out but they're so vulnerable too.. I've been through prison and lots of violence and I feel like I'm failing these kids all the time I want them to thrive and I swear I'm gonna leave shit better than I found it for them.

Sadly, seems like there are less and less Aunties, Uncs, and Elders nowadays....😩.

I have been, politely of course 😅, trying to explain this to my family since I was a small child but let’s just say with little success

My siblings and I acknowledge that we are the "old ones" now. Kind of a shocking thing. Especially when I forget I am old and catch a glimpse in the mirror. Yikes!
I look like my sweet Nanny.
Gotta keep that sense of humor strong. 💚

It warms my heart whenever my one niece or nephew call me Auntie. ❤ The others don't call me anything. 😢

Agree completely. We have a saying in my language, roughly translated; Pears can reach maturity by the passage of time, not people.

And you don't have to be elderly to be an Elder. Wisdom and experience play a major role in what it means to be an Elder.

Just a flawed individual that's aging and hopefully still willing to learn and share.

Wish I could send this to my Uncle and Aunt!
I was 40 years old when my Aunt started demanding that we start calling her Aunt! We always said Ma'am and Sir to all of them. We never even called my grandparents by anything but their first names.

Love this. ❤ I’ve been saying it for years. Surrounded by old fools. I will hurt the feelings of Bernadine and Homer if they don’t act accordingly.

My daughters' friends have always asked me for advice. I take that ish so so seriously.

Oh my goodness this 1000 percent. I often think: if you were a useless, waste of space scoundrel and you just got old, why does that mean you automatically get respected!?

This is exactly why I want to be an elder...
I don't have any elders around me.... they're not elders 😢

Everything you speak is so candid, without being scathing or judgmental. I wanna be you when I grow up.

This is what I often tell close friends; big difference between an Elder and an old head. An Elder is wise, but an old head only pretends to be an Elder, then they wanna get in their feelings when they don't receive the same respect they demand
